The Veterinary Medical Library provides students, faculty, and staff with library instruction in order to fully utilize library resources and materials. Classes may be personalized to fit the need of individual topics and/or general orientation. Topics include Veterinary Medical Research, MEDLINE via Ovid, PubMed, Evidence Based Health Care along with other subjects in the areas of database searching, information resources, and web/software technology.

All classes are free for University of Minnesota-TC students, faculty, and staff.

Course Integrated Instruction

Librarians work with teachers to improve students' information fluency by providing in-class instruction on library resources and processes. Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the students and instructor in order to support assignments and optimize library research skills.  Contact your liaison to discuss your course needs.

CourseLib Web Pages

In collaboration with the instructor, librarians can create a CourseLib webpage organizing resources and services identified for use with specific courses. Contact your liaison to discuss creation of a CourseLib page for your class.

Consultations - one on one and small group

Students, faculty, and staff can meet with a librarian for personalized, in-depth assistance with researching health and biomedical science-related topics.  This service is extremely helpful for students who are having problems efficiently researching a topic for a class assignment.  The individualized session teaches strategies for successful research for the assignment, and these skills support future success at meeting information needs.  Request a Consultation.

Library Workshops

Each semester the library offers a series of workshops designed to enhance and improve information-seeking skills. Classes commonly taught  include: MEDLINE, PubMed, molecular biology databases, along with other topics including database searching, information resources, and web/software technology.  A list of the current offerings is located on our Instruction Services Page.  Library staff can also teach any of these topics in the time and location of your choosing.  Contact the Reference Desk for more information.
